Hats
Wow, it's been a long, long time since I've posted anything to my blog. Shame on me! I've been very busy with life, but am feeling a little more settled and have been working on a project that I thought I would share. A good friend of mine asked me if I could make a favor for a birthday party for an oler woman. She wondered if I had any ideas how to make it in the shape of a hat. That started my creative juices flowing. I searched the web but didn't find quite what I was looking for. Then I found this template at https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiaSmq-OLDTlnhVvwWnCkz5JDaPOeOTbXlgGN-lC7reoe9yb4T4IfDS4eBq1ht5btqf9WVrlUHc4mfgfmDDwnqcXBJITbfe46aTcFJrsOc_PklViCbmSaSH5nIqrs72qKFnhTnXDj9W767/s1600/top_hat_top_blank.gif. This became the basis of a hat. However, it still wasn't quite what I had pictured in my mind. So then I searched "church hats" and looked through all the images for inspiration. After many (many) attempts, here is my finished product. Thanks for looking!
I'm enjoying my vacation/snow day, listening to my Bible and making 30 of these for my friend.
The hat opens up. You can put a treat inside.

Composition Notebook Journals
I am planning an event for the married couples in my church. We are going to do the 40 day Love Dare and I wanted each person to be able to record their thoughts and experiences in journals. I saw this inexpensive way to make journals from composition notebooks on several tutorials on youtube.

Hershey Kiss Holder

Here is a Hershey Kiss Holder I made for a wedding. I got the idea from a video on Youtube by the Ladybug Stamping Spot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPSwT2DZBUY. Since I don't have the Imagine (yet :) ), it took all day to figure out how to print the words on my printer and then cut on my Expression. Hope you like it.

Mother's Day

Wow, it's been a long time since I made anything in my craft room. I'm trying to concentrate on some things I need to finish (my dissertation). I made this yesterday for my Mom for mother's day. I got the pattern from Stamptv. I really like the basket, I think I will make some more...but not until I finish the big D. :)

Purses

Here are some purses I made this week for a womens' gathering at my church. Each one has a bottle of hand santizer from Bath and Body Works inside. I used my Cricut and the Tags Bags etc cartridge to cut the shape. Then I dry embossed it with my Cuttlebug and one of the Fiskars texture plates. I rubbed some of the Tim Holtz Distress Ink across the pattern and then used my heat gun and embossing powder to create the shine. You can't tell from the picture, but the tag is also inked and embossed. I can't believe it took me all week to do this. Oh well, it was the ULTIMATE procrastination project. It kept me from other things I should be doing. :)

Valentine Bear

Ok, so I'm tryin not to go to my craft room while I have other things to do. But...I am allowing myself 1 hour (ok, 1 1/2 hours) to make ONE (and only one) card. Here it is. This is the first time I used my sewing machine to put stitching on it. I like the effect. I think I'll do it again...but not tonight. :)

More cards

I said I was going to go to bed early tonight because I have been up the last few nights late. Well, it didn't happen. Here it is 12:46 a.m. and I am posting cards. I may need help.
The White and blue card I made for a challenge on the Cricut board. The challenge was to make an all white card with a pop of color. It was supposed to be made totally from scraps (I forgot that part) and since I used new paper, I didn't post it for the challenge. Oh well... I used my cuttlebug and my new flower board folder and the thank you folder. The butterfly came from my Walk in My Garden cartridge and is embossed with one of my Fiskars swirl plates.
The other card is my first attempt (first successful attempt) at a step card. I scanned my new cupid stamp ($1 bargain from Michaels, Yay!) into my computer and used SCAL to make the cut out in paper and chipboard. Then I stamped it. I did post this one on the Cricut boards under an ad challenge with these colors.
